Our thoughts are influenced by who we are, the stories that we carry, and all the many things that we encounter from birth to death. They are not just our own. They are influenced by our geography, the color of your skin, our gender, religious beliefs of our ancestors, sexual orientation, peers, the vocation of our parents and grandparents, and all your experiences good and bad. The list goes on and on. We came to this world like an empty vessel ready to be filled and we are filled with things that we had no control of. We have an unlimited number of potentialities, but most people never explore their full potential because they are constrained to the culture, norms, and beliefs of their caretakers.

These caretakers will have a lasting impact on our lives. There is always a group of people before us who thinks that they know more about our needs than we do.  Most parents are guilty of this. They try to keep their children locked in the box that they grew up in and they feel threatened if their children wonder and find new things. Some children are not allowed to study different religions, discuss different worldviews because they are afraid of offending or dishonoring their parents.

With this in mind I ask, how can we become true to ourselves and explore the gifts and blessings of this world?  To be truly free, we must be free from the constraints of our society, culture and the worldviews of others. We must find and create our own meaning to life. We can?t be stuck in the box of ?everyone does this, so we have to do it too.? We have to let the universe or our supreme power guide us in being our fully created self. Individuals should be open-minded and be ready to learn. We are living in a world with unlimited knowledge and recourses.  Every human being is just a speck in this incomprehensibly massive universe. This universe is filled with unlimited options for us. People must dream big and expect the best. According to Michelangelo, ?Refuse to allow yourself to have low expectations about what you?re capable of creating?.  We are greater than we ever know. Our thoughts control our destiny. It cost nothing to dream and set goals. This will help us do what we are created to do and have joy doing it.

As we stay at home isolated from the rest of the world through physical distancing, we can spend time to think about some meaningful goals. Think about things that will make you feel good and not about things that will make you anxious and nervous. We have no control over what is going on around us, but we have control of our thoughts and emotions. How we react to situations in our lives depends on how we feel and the thoughts that we accept. If you are afraid and scared you will be anxious and nervous. Likewise, if you are happy and peaceful you will have different emotions. It is very important to think positively and to expect the best even if you are in a bad situation.
